Invisalign® Clear Aligners

Looking for aligned teeth without the hindrance of braces? Perhaps you're keen on correcting your dental alignment, but metal braces and wires don't appeal to you. Or, have your teeth shifted after previous orthodontic treatment? Invisalign® might be your solution.

Invisalign®, often referred to as invisible braces, clear aligners or clear braces, constitutes a series of advanced thermoplastic trays designed to fit over your teeth. Each tray induces incremental teeth movement until the desired result is attained.

Why choose Invisalign over traditional braces?

Invisalign clear aligners are constructed from medical-grade, see-through thermoplastic. This circumvents the notorious "metal mouth" associated with braces and renders them virtually undetectable during conversation.

A significant advantage of Invisalign over braces is their removability. This feature enhances comfort during meals and maintains oral hygiene as you can brush and floss with ease. With Invisalign, enjoy your regular diet without the concern of food entrapment in metallic wires.

The absence of metal brackets or wires minimises discomfort and potential mouth injury risk. After a brief adjustment period, most individuals experience no speech issues.

Who is the ideal candidate for Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign is primarily aimed at mature teens and adults seeking a more comfortable and less conspicuous alternative to braces. The treatment can address a variety of standard orthodontic problems, including:

  • Misaligned bite (overbite, underbite, crossbite, and open bite)
  • Crooked teeth
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Spaces between teeth

For more complex teeth or bite issues, our dentists might suggest subtle orthodontic treatments such as tooth-coloured ceramic braces.

Invisalign treatment requires healthy teeth and gums as tooth decay or gum disease could disrupt the process and impact the outcome.

Invisalign Types

We provide two Invisalign alternatives at Freshwater Dental: Invisalign Full and Invisalign Go.

Invisalign Full

This standard treatment option can rectify a broader spectrum of orthodontic complications. It typically involves 30 to 50 sets of aligners and lasts 12 to 18 months, depending on the degree of alignment correction required.

Invisalign Go

This expedited solution suits those needing minor alignment correction. With less than 20 sets of aligners, you may complete the Invisalign Go treatment in as little as four months if you qualify.

Our dentists will guide you through your choices and their respective costs after your orthodontic evaluation.

Invisalign Procedure

Following an initial assessment to determine your suitability for Invisalign treatment, we capture your teeth and gum impressions.

Using Invisalign's specialised software, we generate 3D digital models to strategise the tooth movements needed for your desired smile. You can preview your estimated final smile.

We then produce a series of personalised aligners delivered to our dental clinic. Each aligner pair should be worn for approximately two weeks, gradually shifting your teeth closer to their final location. Generally, Invisalign treatment lasts between 6-18 months, varying based on individual cases.

In most instances, tiny tooth-coloured buttons are affixed to your teeth to enhance aligner grip, enabling precise teeth movements.

Aligner Wearing Frequency

While Invisalign aligners can be removed for meals or oral hygiene, we advise wearing them for a minimum of 22 hours daily. Adhering to this regimen maximises the chances of achieving your optimal smile.
